VITA & TCE
Free Tax Preparation Services
Empowering Our Community,
One Tax Return at a Time
PATHE proudly partners with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, providing free tax preparation and filing services to underserved communities throughout Metro Detroit. Our dedicated, IRS-certified volunteers ensure your tax returns are prepared accurately, maximizing your refunds and claiming valuable credits at absolutely no cost.
What Is a Virtual VITA Site?
PATHE operates as a virtual VITA site, meaning all services are provided remotely. There’s no need to visit an office in person. From document submission to return filing, everything happens securely online or over the phone.
This virtual model enables us to serve more people, reduce wait times, and protect your privacy, all while providing you with access to expert assistance from the comfort of your own home.
How the PATHE VITA Program Works
We’ve partnered with GetYourRefund.org, a secure, IRS-sponsored platform, to make filing your taxes easy, secure, and completely virtual.
Here’s how it works:
Start Online: Begin by visiting our secure portal. You’ll answer a few screen questions to make sure you’re eligible.
Upload Your Documents: You’ll take photos or upload PDFs of your tax documents (like W-2s, 1099s, and identification). The system walks you through every step.
Virtual Intake Interview: Our IRS-certified volunteers will thoroughly and accurately prepare your return. If we have any questions, we’ll contact you right away.
Review & Approve: You’ll have a chance to review your return, ask questions, and sign electronically. Nothing is submitted without your approval.
We File It For You: Once approved, we’ll e-file your return and send you a digital copy for your records. It’s that simple.
Need help? If you have questions or run into any issues while using the website, we’re here to help. Email us at [email protected], and a team member will assist you.
Who Qualifies?
You may qualify for our free tax assistance if you:
