Free Tax Preparation Services

Empowering Our Community,
One Tax Return at a Time

PATHE proudly partners with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, providing free tax preparation and filing services to underserved communities throughout Metro Detroit. Our dedicated, IRS-certified volunteers ensure your tax returns are prepared accurately, maximizing your refunds and claiming valuable credits at absolutely no cost.

What Is a Virtual VITA Site?

PATHE operates as a virtual VITA site, meaning all services are provided remotely. There’s no need to visit an office in person. From document submission to return filing, everything happens securely online or over the phone.

This virtual model enables us to serve more people, reduce wait times, and protect your privacy, all while providing you with access to expert assistance from the comfort of your own home.

How the PATHE VITA Program Works

We make tax preparation easy, secure, and completely virtual:

  1. Email to Get Started: Contact us at [email protected] to request assistance.

  2. Complete Intake and Consent Forms: Once we hear from you, we’ll send you a link to fill out your IRS-required intake and consent forms

  3. Securely Submit Documents: Securely upload your documents through our encrypted digital platform. All documentation must be submitted before the intake interview can be scheduled.

  4. Participate in a Virtual Intake Interview: This conversation helps us confirm your information, clarify any missing details, and ensure we understand your unique tax situation.

  5. Tax Preparation: Our trained IRS-certified volunteers will prepare your tax returns thoroughly and accurately.

  6. Receive Confirmation: We'll send you confirmation that your taxes have been successfully filed, along with a digital copy for your records.
