About RAPHA
RAPHA (Resources and Patient Healthcare Advocacy) is a PATHE program that helps individuals and families navigate the healthcare system with confidence and clarity.
We provide personalized guidance to make healthcare more understandable, accessible, and equitable—especially for those who have felt overlooked or unsupported in traditional care settings.
Our work bridges the gap between people and the systems meant to serve them. In metro Detroit, nearly one in three insured residents report being unable to access needed healthcare within the past year due to cost, confusion, or systemic barriers. RAPHA helps close that gap by providing one-on-one advocacy, health education, and connections to community resources—empowering clients to make informed decisions and achieve better health outcomes.
Who We Help
RAPHA supports individuals and families who:
Feel unheard or rushed during medical appointments
Need help finding or switching doctors or insurance plans
Want to better understand test results, diagnoses, or treatment options
Are caregivers managing complex health situations for loved ones
Are unsure how to find reliable health information or community support
If this sounds familiar, RAPHA can help you take the next step toward better understanding and control of your care.
Our Services
RAPHA provides personalized, advisory support to help you make informed decisions about your health and coverage.
Our advocates offer one-on-one guidance through:
Healthcare Navigation: Help understanding medical information, treatment plans, and next steps from your care team.
Insurance Assistance: Support comparing plans, understanding benefits, and enrolling in Marketplace or other coverage options. Our advocates are certified to assist with Marketplace applications and can help ensure you find a plan that fits your needs and budget.
Provider Search: Guidance in finding or switching to doctors and specialists that fit your needs and preferences.
Care Coordination: Assistance organizing appointments, follow-ups, and communication between multiple providers.
Health Education: Tools and resources to strengthen health literacy and confidence in managing your own care.
Resource Referrals: Connections to community partners for non-medical needs, such as transportation, food access, or housing support.
Please note: RAPHA advocates do not provide medical care, diagnoses, or treatment. Our role is to help you understand information, navigate systems, and make informed choices about your health and coverage.

You’ll have access to up to three sessions per month through our secure, HIPAA-aligned virtual platform—removing barriers like transportation, scheduling conflicts, or childcare needs.
RAPHA’s services are made possible through community support and grant funding. To help sustain the program and encourage engagement, we ask for a small participation fee of $10 per person per month, with each additional household member at $5, up to a $25 maximum per household.
This modest contribution helps us keep services available for everyone, but if cost is ever a concern, please reach out. We never turn anyone away who needs support.
